To put it lightly, the upbringing of Jeff Tucker is noted (even on RKK's Web-site) as unambitious. It's said that song writing saved his angst-ridden soul; which employed a sullen disposition alike his favorite 80s bands whom were developing a tinge of rock and mixing it with progressively negative lyrical style (see: The Cure). In 2000, Fearless Records recorded a self-titled EP that met release in 2001, introducing to an enduring public 5 songs of solemn disenchantment. This was when the band was formed from three Orange-County familiars. Come 2003, Tucker had written 150 new songs in compulsion, was ready to record, and acquired Calhoun from Santa Barbara and Stopnik in addition to his standing OC buddies. Long from withdrawing himself from society now; Tucker, and friends, have signed with Reprise, have toured heavily, and have released a solid little album known as "Are You Nervous". Being their first full length, the lyrical strength and long-reaching ability is beyond evident now. It's unavoidable. Rock Kills Kid has taken heavily to touring. In transition from his life of distancing and denial of his own dreams, Tucker is a hard working front man with a mellow voice. Rock Kills Kid can breath easy for a while, their fans are ecstatic, their music is jiving, everything is on the straight and narrow for all members. A clean band for those who are sick and tired of the isolation they've pushed through.
