Biografía

Rhett Akins (born October 13, 1969 in Valdosta, Georgia) is a country singer and songwriter. He reached the peak of his popularity during the mid-1990s. His biggest hits were "That Ain't My Truck" (No. 3, 1995) and "Don't Get Me Started" (his lone No. 1 song from 1996). Rhett Akins had a band by the time he was eleven. In 1992, he moved to Nashville to follow his dream of becoming a country music star. He received a record deal from Decca Records after they heard a few of his demos. He debuted his first album A Thousand Memories in 1994. Two of the songs on the album made it into the top 40 of the charts, but it wasn't until a year later that he made it big. In 1995, he released the song "That Ain't My Truck," which made it into the top five. He released the album Somebody New in 1996, but not to much success. Rhett came back in 1998 with his third album titled What Livin's All About, but it too did not reach the success of his first album. His fourth album, titled Friday Night In Dixie, was released in March of 2002. It had moderate success with its title-track "Friday Night In Dixie". Rhett is scheduled to release his fifth album People Like Me on March 13, 2006. The album is already very anticipated because of the song "Kiss My Country Ass". This song has created controversy, and some radio stations have refused to play it. He has also written songs that have been used by other artists, such as Little Sundress, sung by Chris Cagle, and Put a Girl In It has been a hit for Brooks & Dunn.
