Minus the Bear is a math rock group which formed in Seattle, Washington, United States in 2001 and have released four albums and four EPs. The band features ex-members of Botch, killsadie, and Sharks Keep Moving. Their sound involves a mix of Pele-esque guitar-taps and electronics, with a Don Caballero-esque sophistication of composition. Minus the Bear is known for their amusing song titles, with examples including "Hey, Wanna Throw Up? Get Me Naked," "Get Me Naked 2: Electric Boogaloo," "Monkey!!! Knife!!! Fight!!!," and "Lemurs, Man, Lemurs." Despite this light humor, the band's music is quite technical. The name Minus the Bear comes from the famed TV show B.J. and the Bear ??? minus the bear.
