Wasalu Muhammad Jaco (b. February 17, 1982 in Chicago, Illinois), popularly known by stage name Lupe Fiasco (pronounced LOO-PAY) is an American hip-hop artist. Lupe first became known to the mainstream hip-hop community in 2005 when he appeared on "Touch The Sky" for Kanye West's sophomore album Late Registration. He has released his debut album, Food & Liquor on Atlantic Records on September 19, 2006 which includes the August 2005 preview track, "Kick, Push". The track showcased his hobbies and interest in skateboarding, along with an ear-pleasing smooth tale of what it is like trying to find an area to peacefully skateboard without interruption. He has released three mix-tapes titled, "Fahrenheit 1/15 Part(s) 1, 2, & 3," and has been featured on songs with Fort Minor (Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park's alias project) such as "Spraypaint & Inkpens" featuring Ghostface Killah. In December 2007 Lupe released his second full length album, The Cool which received high marks from critics including Rolling Stone, Pitchfork Media, and the New York Times. The album debuted at #15 on the U.S. Billboard Chart and peaked the following week at #14. He has said that his next album LupEnd (Date TBA) which will be his third, will also be his final album. Lupe has previously been on label Epic with his group Da Pak and then signed a solo deal with Arista
