Download was originally begun by Skinny Puppy's cEvin Key and dwayne goettel in 1994, as a side project from their rapidly disintegrating full-time interest. As the two wrote a lot of material for Skinny Puppy, the songs that Skinny Puppy front-man nivek ogre did not think were "Skinny Puppy enough" were finished off under the Download moniker. Also a part of Download were Skinny Puppy contributors Anthony Valcic and Ken Marshall, plus Philth (Phil Western) Mark Spybey (from Dead Voices on Air), and Ryan Moore (from Twilight Circus Dub Sound System, The Legendary Pin
