David Cook (born December 20, 1982) is a native of Blue Springs, Missouri, a singer-songwriter, and the winner of the 7th season of American Idol. Cook was praised on the show for vocal range, versatility, and his unique interpretations of rock and pop classics. Cook also plays guitar and bass. He was the lead vocalist for Axium for many years. He released an independent solo album, Analog Heart, in 2006, which won Urban Tulsa Weekly's "Album of the Year." His major-label debut will be released in November 2008 on RCA Records. The first single was released on AOL music on September 23, 2008 and is called "Light On". The record will be self-titled.
