Biografía
Es una reconocida banda de la segunda generación del reggae. Originaria de Jamaica, fueron la primera banda de reggae que ganó un Grammy, por su álbum, Anthem, en 1983. Sus hits más conocidos son Shine Eye Gal, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner», Sinsemilla, Solidarity y What Is Life?. El origen del nombre de Black Uhuru proviene del Swahili, Uhuru significa "LIBERTAD". Por ende, su traducción sería Independencia Negra. La banda se formó en el distrito de Waterhouse, Kingston, con el nombre de Uhuru. Sus miembros iniciales fueron Ervin Don Carlos Spencer, Rudolph Garth Dennis, y Derrick Duckie Simpson.
