Jamaica-born, Toronto-raised Claudja Barry was a disco singer of the late '70s and '80s after a stage career that included roles in Hair and Catch My Soul. Her biggest pop hit was "Boogie Woogie Dancin' Shoes" (#56) in 1979, and she topped the dance club charts in 1986 with "Down and Counting".
