Encarnita Garc??a (born September 25, 1982) is a Latin Grammy nominee, Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and philanthropist. Kany Garc??a is currently signed to Sony BMG Label. She has attained two Billboard Latin Pop Airplay Top 10 thus far ("Hoy Ya Me Voy", and "Esta Soledad"), four Top 30 and three top 50 songs on Billboard Hot Latin Tracks. Garc??a came to fame in 2007 with the release of her debut album "Cualquier Dia", which featured her breakthrough single "Hoy Ya Me Voy". Later came "??Qu?? Nos Pas???", the fan's favorite "Amigo en el Ba??o", the soft ballads "Esta Soledad" and "Estigma De Amor". Garc??a was born in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico to a Spanish father and Puerto Rican mother. Garc??a's father, Antonio, who gave up the priesthood when he met Shela.[1] She grew up in a house where music was not only played, but also lived. The youngest of three children (Marishela and Jos?? Antonio, who is a lead cello player at the Sinf??nica de Puerto Rico), Kany started learning classical music when she was just a child, studying cello, theory, solfeggio and chorus.[1] At 13, she attended the school Escuela Libre de M??sica, where the guitar would win her heart.[1] This was followed by studies at Puerto Rico's Conservatorio de M??sica. In her early twenties, a brush with fame became a brush with death for the budding artist. Following a successful audition for the television program Objectivo Fama, Garc??a fell asleep behind the wheel, barely surviving a near-fatal car accident. The hospital stay cost her the opportunity to appear on Objetivo Fama. She was in intensive care for some time and managed to recover, although sensation in her left toe is limited. This setback did not keep Garc??a from the craft that she loved. Continuing to write and perform led to talks with Sony BMG some years later.
